3Dembryoprints is a spin-off company of Amsterdam UMC, dedicated to providing scientifically accurate 3D-printed models of developing human embryos. These models are based on cutting-edge research conducted by Dr. Bernadette de Bakker and her team, aimed at enhancing education for clinicians, (bio)medical students, and patients.

What is the purpose of the 3D-printed embryo models?

Our models serve educational purposes, helping to advance the understanding of human embryonic development. They are designed to benefit both the medical community and expectant parents by providing accurate representations of embryo sizes and shapes at various stages of gestation.

How are the 3D models created?

The models are created from histological sections of human embryos, primarily sourced from the Carnegie Collection and the Dutch Fetal Biobank. The sections are digitized, meticulously aligned, and segmented to create detailed 3D surface models. These models are further processed using specialized software to ensure anatomical accuracy.

What makes 3Dembryoprints unique?

In 2016, Dr. de Bakker envisioned creating scientifically accurate 3D prints, earning the Innovation Award from the University of Amsterdam in 2019. Collaborating with cirp GmbH in 2022, we developed durable, multicolor 3D prints using the latest printing technologies. Proceeds from our sales support Dr. de Bakker’s research into miscarriages and birth defects for 100%.

What are the ethical standards of 3Dembryoprints?

We maintain the highest ethical standards in our creation and distribution processes. The embryos used are from reputable sources like the Carnegie Collection and the Dutch Fetal Biobank, with all donations treated with utmost care and respect.

What are the shipping options and costs?

We offer worldwide shipping using reliable couriers such as DHL and UPS. Preparing and completing your order can take up to 14 days. Shipping costs vary based on the destination and are the responsibility of the customer. For EU destinations, import duties and taxes are included, while other destinations may incur additional charges.

Will I be charged import duties?

For EU destinations, import duties and taxes are included with no additional charges. For other destinations, import duties and taxes may apply upon arrival, and these must be paid by the customer. Please contact your local customs office for more information.

Our 3D-printed embryo models are intended solely for educational and illustrative purposes and are not to be used as medical devices, diagnostic tools, or therapeutic instruments. They are not suitable for clinical or medical applications and should be kept out of reach of children under 3 years due to small parts that may pose a choking hazard.
